RURAL MISSION SUNDAY 2017
It was good to have this special focus. The event is the initiative of one of our members, Germinate (previously the Arthur Rank Centre). Work has already begun on preparing material for Rural Mission Sunday 2018, and a link will appear here.
Regular free online seminars, called webinars, are held. Information is sent to members and also published on our Facebook page. The next webinar is on Saturday 21st October, 9.00 to 9.45am, hosted by Rural Mission Solutions. On this occasion it will explore mission ideas for Christmas and the winter months. Details are on their website.
Regional Consultations are held from time to time on a rolling geographoical basis. Recent events have been held in the Southwest, Wales and Northern Ireland. Other events are planned for:
- Norfolk/Suffolk - Return visit to Ditchingham
- Essex - Cheltenham area
- Kent/Sussex - Maidstone
- Scotland - Edinburgh
- Midlands - venue to be arranged
Research into Rural Evangelism
Barry Osborne has begun a research degree with Winchester University exploring how rural churches in Britain understand and practice mission and evangelism. The research will reflect on how the rural context might affect theological understanding regarding community, church, mission and gospel.
Aware of the degree and speed at which rural communities are changing barry hopes his research will resut with a better and more effective engagement with telling the gospel story.
During 2011 our members were asked to take part in a small survey exploring what might be hindering evangelism in rural communities. The results were interesting and can be seen here. Click the link

We are once more looking for anyone who is willing to help gather/write articles for Country Way. This is not onerous but will be a great help to the Secretary and will also help to ensure a steady flow of information from REN into this important magazine.
The latest copy of the magazine is being circulated to REN members. Details about Country Way can be found on the Resources page of this website.
